When people think of "water cities," Venice or Amsterdam usually come to mind. However, the German city of Hamburg holds a surprising world record.
The Bridge Capital:
- 🌉 Hamburg has around 2,500 bridges, which is more than any other city in the world
- 🇮🇹 For comparison, Venice has about 400 bridges, and Amsterdam has around 1,500
A City Built on Water:
- ⚓ Its unique geography, situated between the Alster and Elbe rivers, required an incredible number of structures to connect the city's districts
- 🏗️ Many of these bridges are located in the historic 'Speicherstadt', the world's largest warehouse district and a UNESCO World Heritage site
